CRB recently celebrated their 30th birthday in style by making the front cover of Master Builder magazine. Master Builder ran an article on successful long term players in the Federation of Master Builders and chose CRB to feature.
Jamie gets mobile
Having joined CRB while partaking in the vocational GCSE scheme, at the tender age of 15, Jamie Cook is without doubt the youngest ever new-starter at CRB. After completing his GCSEs, Jamie went full-time at CRB as a plumbing apprentice, while also studying part-time at Sussex Downs College. He qualified in 2009 and has since worked for CRB as an apprentice under Scott Perry. Jamie became progressively more skilled and independent, and now has full CRB plumber status, with his own van and equipment.
Ben Clear, CRB MD, comments: “Jamie has really got to grips with his role and has impressed us at various times with his commitment to doing a good job. He is a great example of how vocational courses for school students can, with the right employer, lead to bona fide careers for young learners.”
Scott Offered a Promotion
Following a period of growth that has seen company turnover expand by nearly 20% in nine months, CRB’s MD, Ben Clear, offered a promotion to Scott Perry who has accepted the new position as Contracts Manager.
Ben Clear: “I’m delighted to offer Scott this opportunity. He is very capable and the training we have done together has gone really well. I’m looking forward to working with him closely over the coming months. I’d like to say thanks to all our clients because, without their continued support and orders, this type of expansion would not have been possible for us.”
Ben starts New Apprenticeship
CRB’s newest employee, Ben Trewin, has commenced his chosen apprenticeship in Carpentry. Ben will be studying for the next two years at Sussex Downs College. While on site, Ben will work under CRB’s most senior carpenter, Jim Atkinson.
Ben Clear: “I’m glad to see Ben progressing along his chosen career path. He is probably the most confident young man I’ve ever employed at CRB. Most apprentices need some form of encouragement, but with Ben it’s almost the opposite! During his admission interview for college, he was asked by the college, ‘What are your ultimate aims on this course?’ He said, ‘Taking over CRB!’ Confidence indeed; I better watch out! Ben will be in good hands with Jim, our head chippy, who applies to every job an attention to detail and perfectionism that is beyond reproach. He will make sure Ben works to the absolute best of his ability, so I’m looking forward to seeing this young man develop into a fully qualified carpenter.”
